City of İzmir Flood Control and Streambed Upgrade on 54 Streams, Turkey |

Project Description:
This project involved 54 streams located within the metropolitan area of Izmir, including the suburbs of Konak, Buca, Gaziemir, Balçova, Narlıdere, Güzelbahçe, Bornova, Karşıyaka and Çigli. The total length of the streams rehabilitated for flood control purposes was 161 km with a maximum flow of 293 m3/sec. The project design included the following:
- Flood basin maps (scale: 1/25,000 and 1/5,000) for each
streambed were prepared.
- The discharge volume (Q100 & Q500) for each stream was
determined and hydraulic calculations were carried out.
- The floodway for each streambed was determined, topographical
studies were conducted and data was collected for hydraulic modelling.
- Based on the results obtained, a preliminary design for
streambeds rehabilitations was prepared and submitted to the State
Hydraulic Works (DSİ) for approval.
- After approval, a detailed design was completed and tender documents were prepared for implementation.

Wastewater & Stormwater Collection Systems & an Upgrading of Streambeds in the Western Bosphorus Basin, İstanbul, Turkey.

Project Description:
Services for the upgrading of the surface drainage culverts and streambeds in the Western Bosphorus Basin were carried out. The design included the production of detailed plans for all existing sewer and storm water collection lines in the area, based on exact measurements obtained on-site, as well as the preliminary and final design of the proposed network, including an upgrading of the streambeds of the Rumelikavağı, Sariyer and İstinye Creeks.
Based on our final design, the wastewater was collected in two separate locations and discharged into deeper layers of the Bosphorus.
